PROBLEM

We have an unprecedented increase in living costs, including a rise of 11%* for electricity in 2022.

These pressures mean whanau are financially stretched to the limit and even more community support is needed.

There is a reliance on electricity companies (who doubled profits in 2022) with non-renewable power increasing our footprint and environmental impact.

*Consumer New Zealand, 2022

SOLUTION

Te Rā’s initiative can alleviate these problems in a circular way - by harvesting electricity from te ra.

With solar power, Marae become energy self-sufficient and save themselves $12,000 on power bills each year.
This leaves more funds to wrap around communities and gives the ability to offer koha power to those in need.

Solar power is a regenerative energy source allowing marae to have a smaller environmental impact.

*Based on current Manurewa Marae energy cost monthly savings.

DELIVERY

With support from financial partners, Te Rā can manage the project from start to finish. We enlist a group of trusted business partners to deliver the project.
